Basic Information:

In order to use the Official Payments System both online and over the phone, the customer will need to know the MUD number and their account number. In addition to this, an online payment will require a valid email address as a copy of their confirmation number will be sent there. The web site will offer a printer friendly version of the confirmation number.

Payments received after 4 pm will be applied the following business day. Transaction summaries are emailed to H2O office every morning however credit cards take 2 business days before they are deposited and e-checks take 5 business days. Customers using e-check should know that it does take some time to verify that the funds are available so this is not a recommended payment method for delinquency. In the event that the customer is currently disconnected, they will be able to call H2O’s office with the confirmation number and account number and have service restored if they paid by credit card.

Online:

Customers will go to official payments website at www.officialpayments.com and select the “Local Payment” option on the home page. They then enter their MUD number which takes you to the payment screen. Here you will be able to select your method of payment and enter the dollar amount up to $300.00. After that, they will be asked to verify the payment which is accompanied by some terms and conditions, just some standard stuff. Next, the customer is asked for some personal information including name and address along with their account number and either the credit card number or bank routing and account number. You are then issued a confirmation number, which is also emailed to a selected email account. This email will not however show the convenience fee that was charged.

The customer can also set up an email reminder to be received on a date that they select, however this will not automatically make a payments for them. There is not an option to set up reoccurring payments and the reminder is clear that no payment has been made.

Also, the customers need to be mindful that they do not use the back button on the internet browser. Official Payments provides a “back” button as a link in the website. Using the browser back button will not stop a payment that is being processed by the website.

Very Important – customers must be sure to enter the correct account number

Phone:

Customers will call 1-800-272-8156. They then follow the voice prompts to move through the system. Official payments doesn’t provide an operator for help using the system. The customer will need their MUD number and account number, which again, the customer will need to insure that the account number is correct. They can choose either credit card or check by phone as the method of payment and are asked to enter the amount to be paid in dollars and cents. So a $100.00 payment is entered as 10000. The system will repeat back to the customer the information that is entered and ask for them to verify the correctness. The limit per transaction is $300.00. They will then enter a phone number that they can be reached at and are given a confirmation number.
